One of Dad's favorite artists is his son-in-law, Chris Steele. (He happens to be one of mine, too!) He is amazing. I took four of Chris' paintings and printed each one onto fabric. Dad had asked for a grouping of the four seasons.
I learned many valuable lessons from this. First of all, do not attempt printing anything onto fabric if you have a new printer you are not familiar with. I went through more ink and fabric trying to get the color and clarity I needed. The more you spend for a photo printer will show in the quality of the print. Some projects may not matter, but if you want your print to be as clear as the original, invest the extra dollars in the beginning.
It is best to make the entire background and quilt it before attaching the large paintings. Attach the paintings with a fusible web that you know will stay ironed on. I used one that did not stay put and my second choice came up on the edges. After I finished the piece, I found that the best fusible to use is Wonder Under. Some have recommended Misty Fuse.
Mitering your corners on the frames will help them look more realistic also.
Even with all the bumps in the road, the wall hanging is now finished and Dad will receive it in time for Father's Day! He doesn't have internet access so it will still be a surprise!

Wedding Quilt
I spent most of my free time for the month of March on this one. This quilt pattern, Interlocking Stars, is by Diane Nagle and was published in the Jan/Feb 2011 issue of Fons & Porter's "Love of Quilting". Of course mine is a little different. I am known for adding my own touches to patterns. The bride's colors were purple, black and white. I carry the line of Moda fabric, "Half Moon" on my website, which is where the black and white fabrics are from.
The ceremony was April 2, 2011 at Brookside Gardens in Berthoud, Colorado. Sarah and Brandon are now married. It was a beautiful day. Very romantic.

New Website Coming Soon
Welcome! It's my very first post. Still working on the new website. All I can say is, "You will love it!". I know I do. It's been a learning experience for me. The only down side is that it has taken me away from my quilting. Soon it will be up and running and life will be back to normal.
I still got to finish this valance and window covering for Kim a few days ago. I had to post pictures. Love the way it turned out with the copper metallic thread.
